AWS Introduces AgentCore Preview to Simplify AI Agent Deployment at Scale

July 23, 2025 Arnold 0 Comments

Amazon Web Services has unveiled a new preview offering called AgentCore, a suite of enterprise-focused tools designed to streamline the creation and management of AI agents, removing much of the heavy lifting involved in building core infrastructure.

Launched as part of Amazon Bedrock, this solution gives developers the flexibility to deploy intelligent agents on Bedrock’s managed environment or on other platforms. The goal? Eliminate the need to manually implement time-consuming backend elements like identity management, persistent memory, and execution monitoring.

What Is AgentCore?

AgentCore is a modular framework built for high-performance AI agent operations. Whether used individually or as a complete toolkit, these components support flexible deployment options and integration with major agent frameworks like LangGraph, LlamaIndex, Strands Agents, and CrewAI.

Key Components:

  • Runtime Engine: A fast, serverless execution layer that offers session isolation and supports diverse agent frameworks and AI models. It also handles multimodal inputs and long-duration tasks.
  • Memory Module: Designed to help agents retain and retrieve past interactions, enabling more context-aware and intelligent behaviors over time.
  • Observability Tools: These features give developers deep visibility into how agents operate—step-by-step visualizations, metadata tagging, scoring systems, and diagnostics all come built-in.
  • Identity Manager: A secure access gateway that allows agents to interface with AWS services or third-party platforms like GitHub and Slack, using pre-consented user credentials.
  • API Gateway: Converts existing Lambda functions and APIs into tools that are ready for agent use, supporting multiple protocols including the Model Context Protocol (MCP).
  • Web Automation Browser: Managed browser instances allow agents to interact with and automate tasks on the web at scale.
  • Code Execution Sandbox: Provides a secure, isolated environment where agents can generate and run code snippets safely.

Use Cases and Availability

AgentCore is built to support a variety of enterprise-grade applications, including customer support automation, backend workflow optimization, and real-time data processing. It caters to developers who want to create smarter, more responsive AI systems without building all supporting infrastructure from scratch.

The preview is available free of charge until September 16, 2025. From September 17, usage of AgentCore will be billed according to AWS pricing tiers. Any additional AWS services used in conjunction with AgentCore will also incur standard charges.
